The first comics event of its kind in the Highlands was held 2nd & 3rd February 2008, at Eden Court, Inverness. It all started with a chance conversation and snowballed from there into a great first-year success - despite having less than four months to organise it, no budget and snow blocking the main roads on the actual weekend!
It seems that the Highlands and Scotland are hungry for this sort of event and so we plan on doing our best to provide it on a regular basis. We aim to:
- have an Annual comic expo event in Inverness.
- host smaller talks and events throughout the year.
- have outreach projects to involve schools and young people throughout the highlands in comics, books, sci-fi, film & cool stuff.
- hold exhibitions, classes and workshops.
- raise money for Children 1st.
- give opportunities for Highland Families to participate in new activities, promoting literacy and inclusion, finding ways to take comics to the people.
- Save the known universe.
