The Hi-Ex Charity Auction in 2008 was a lot of fun and raised a considerable sum of money for our chosen charity Children 1st. Many thanks to everyone who helped make the auction such a success by donating items and / or bidding for some of our unique goodies!

Here are just some of the incredible items that were donated to the convention for 2009!

Hardback edition of volume three of the astonishingly popular Walking Dead. Not only has artist Charlie Adlard signed it - he's even drawn a zombie sketch for the lucky winner!

Blizzard have kindly set us this fantastic limited special edition boxed set of Wrath of the Lich King. As well as the brilliant game itself, you'll find a "Making Of" DVD, starter decks for the WoW card game, mouse mat and a beautifully illustrated hardback book stuffed with exlusive game art! Seriously - this is a must-have for any WoW player!

Hyborian hijinx aplenty!
This is a glorious hardback copy of the rules for the Conan Role Playing game, generously donated by Mongoose games!

Charlie Adlard has sent us this harrowing, but somehow still wonderful, page of art from the incredible popular Walking Dead.

A set of three fantastic Savage Tales comics signed by writers Leah Moore & John Reppion!

Based on the Runequest RPG system, this is all you need to have to launch yourself into a world of adventure with 2000 AD's warped warrior Sláine! Yet again, those wonderful folks at Mongoose have come up trumps with a spectacular book!

From the 2000 AD story Low Life which was written by Rob Williams. The art has been donated by the incredibly generous Simon Coleby.
This page features the phenomenally popular character Dirty Frank facing off against an army of ninja babies! Yes, you read that last sentence right: ninja babies!

"Dirty Frank loves all babies. Except for the Nazi ones."
Another glorious page from the talented pen of Simon Coleby from Rob Williams' Low Life. We shouldn't be selling this page - I want it!

Attention citizen!
The Computer is your friend.
And the Computer is telling you to bid on this wonderful rule book for Paranoia the role-playing game, donated by Mongoose Publishing.
You know you want to. The Computer wouldn't lie to you, after all…

Traveller is the definitive sci-fi role-playing game. It was great to see Mongoose Publishing bringing it back again. It was doubly good to see the lovely hardback edition they published... but the best thing of all was that they donated a copy to us!

A gorgeous set of four super-sexy Witchblade: Shades of Gray comics, signed by the equally super-sexy writing team of Leah Moore and John Reppion!

Courtesy of top artist (and top bloke!) Graeme Neil Reid: An original A3 (297mm x 420mm / 11.7" x 16.5") drawing of the Bash Street Kids for Beano comic's 70th birthday!

A signed copy of Doug Bradley's Spine Chiller's presents HP Lovecraft's The Outsider limited-edition DVD from the generous folks at Renegade Arts Entertainment.

From the kind folks at Paramount Pictures: a superb seven-disc box set of the first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation!

As you may now by now, the great John Higgins has unfortunately had to cancel his appearance at this year's Hi-Ex... But he has generously donated an original A3 (297mm x 420mm / 11.7" x 16.5") page of Greysuit artwork from an upcoming issue of 2000 AD.

Update: As John's page has yet to see print, we've decided to not show the whole thing, just a sample panel!

Jon Haward also had to regrettably cancel his appearance at the con, but he has sent us three absolutely stunning pieces of artwork!

The original pencilled cover for Marvel Pocket Books' Uncanny X-Men, A3 size! (The published version was inked by our own Gary Erskine.)

The original cover for Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures #87, (Panini/ Marvel UK). A3 size, pencilled and Inked by Jon Haward!

A page from Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures #80, (Panini/ Marvel UK). A3 size, pencilled by Jon Haward, inked by Bambos!

From Yishan Li: A copy of Les Contes du Boudoir Hanté Vol. 2, a French language period romance published 8th October 2008 by Delcourt. This book is based on a story called Hua Gu Zi about a fox that changes into a pretty girl's appearance and falls in love with a human.

The book is not only signed by Yishan Li, she's also included a sketch on the inside!

Also from Yishan Li: A copy of CutieB vol. 2, a French language hardback published October 2008 by Dargaud. A contemporary fiction tale about a teenage girl's daily life and dreams, written by Richard Marazano, famous in France for his dark sci-fi comic stories.

Yishan Li drew an original sketch inside the book, and writes, "I totally love all the characters in the story."

Courtesy of the always-generous Rebellion, publishers of 2000 AD: An incredible Rogue Trooper statue - limited to only 500 pieces world-wide, by First 4 Figures!

The statues were commissioned in 2006 to celebrate the launch of the Rogue Trooper video game, so as you might imagine they're pretty rare now, and with the game about to be launched on the Wii they're about to become even rarer!

The incredible Simon Coleby has come up trumps again with this amazing A3 (297mm x 420mm / 11.7" x 16.5") page from Sinister Dexter, one of the most popular 2000 AD strips of all time!

Again courtesy of the amazing Mr. Simon Coleby: An original A3 page from The Authority (issue #5, page 2).

Donated by the fine people at Dark Horse: Hellboy - a boxed figurine complete with a copy of the award-winning graphic novel Seed of Destruction, the very first Hellboy story, written by John Byrne and Mike Mignola and illustrated by Mike Mignola!

Also from the lovely people at Dark Horse: A stunning hardback illustrated version of Frankenstein, the original story by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelly, with beautiful black & white illustrations by comics legend Bernie Wrightson and an introduction by none other than Stephen King!

Isambard Kingdom Brunel: a Graphic Biography, written by Eugene Byrne and illustrated by Simon Gurr, is a hugely entertaining and informative book that's not easy to track down these days - luckily, Simon Gurr himself has donated a signed copy to Hi-Ex! He's even drawn a sketch of Mr. Brunel on the back cover!

Mick McMahon has sent us a stunning page from Legends of the Dark Knight... To be precise, it's page #15 of the first issue of the Watchtower saga!

Hi-Ex guest Leigh Gallagher has donated this jaw-droppingly fantastic A3-size portrait of Batman...

From Patrick Goddard: a gorgeous signed A3 page from the classic Judge Dredd story "Beating Heart" (episode #4, page 1)!
