Welcome to the Highlands International Comic Expo!

We at Hi-Ex are proud to be the only comic event that seeks to bring comics, sci-fi, cartoons and sequential arts to a new audience in the North, while giving existing comic fans in Scotland a convention of their own. Our goals are to raise money for charity, to give families and children a chance join in with some good geek fun, and to inspire a new generation to become great Scottish comic creators. We are determined to represent as wide a spectrum as possible of comic genres: classic British titles, Manga, superheroes, European, cartoons, children's, independent, humour, and much much more!

Hi-Ex 1 was held at Eden Court 2nd & 3rd February 2008. A sudden snowfall on the Friday blocked the major roads and prevented some of the main guests from reaching Inverness, but this did nothing to deter the determined public, who came in unprecedented numbers. The event was still hailed as a great success and received rave reviews. Hi-Ex 2 was inevitable!

Hi-Ex 2 was booked slightly later, on 14th & 15th February 2009, in an attempt to avoid a repeat of any snow related drama - no such luck, as 2009 was the spring where the whole of the UK was snowed in! However despite slightly reduced numbers the event was still enjoyed by all who attended: visitors, guests, exhibitors and businesses. And thanks to incredibly generous donations from comics publishers and professionals - as well as you, the public, who donated your hard earned cash - Hi-Ex has raised an incredible amount for Children 1st in the Auction & raffle - and we'll let you know the exact amount just as soon as the last cheque clears!

Details of the weekend's activities, workshops, events, the auction goodies, photographs, newspaper coverage, a huge list of thank-yous, Hi-Ex goodies for sale and all the latest Hi-Ex news can be found elsewhere on this, the most wonderful website you ever did see.

Plans are already underway for Hi-Ex 3. We expect to be working hard all year to defeat the lack of funding by and general disinterest of The Powers The Be to find a way to keep on bringing this fantastic friendly fun comic convention to the people of Scotland !
