Our nominated Charity: Children 1st
CHILDREN 1ST is the working name of the Royal Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children, which for 120 years has been working to give every child in Scotland a safe and secure childhood. CHILDREN 1ST supports families under stress, protects children from harm and neglect, helps them recover from abuse and promotes children's rights and interests.
CHILDREN 1ST provides 41 services in 23 local authority areas as well as six national services including ParentLine Scotland (0808 800 2222), the free, national telephone helpline for parents and carers, and ChildLine Scotland (0800 1111) on behalf of the NSPCC.
The Killen Family Resource Centre and Elgin-based Cooper Park project work with children and young people to help them recover from the effects of childhood abuse and neglect. Caring staff help them make sense of their experiences and reclaim their lives and self-esteem. We also support adults who have been abused as children where this is affecting their ability as parents.
